Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) is Australia's pre-eminent contemporary dance company and widely regarded as one of the most well known dance companies in the world. Constantly in demand for its innovative productions, ADT is also Australia's most active touring dance company. ADT has toured the world extensively with multiple seasons in London and the UK, New York and wider USA, Tokyo, Korea, Singapore, Canada, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Austria, France, the Netherlands and Monaco.
Under the direction of Garry Stewart the company has taken a radical artistic trajectory. Stewart's distinct choreographic style requires ADT dancers to train in a number of specific physical disciplines. As well as contemporary dance techniques and classical ballet, they are coached in elements of martial arts, breakdance, gymnastics, contact improvisation and yoga. The result is a fusion of forms, which constitutes a unique choreographic palette for which there is no equivalent.
Garry Stewart is globally renowned for his ingenious approach to dance which frequently fuses various other forms of art in to his work and serves as an intelligent and critical progression of contemporary dance.
'It is extraordinary dance - critically acclaimed, multi-award winning and regularly thrilling audiences around the globe.'
