MASON KELLY

Dancer

Originally from Geelong, Victoria, Mason attended The Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School in Melbourne where he trained for three years. In 2013, he commenced full-time training as a contemporary major at The New Zealand School of Dance. In 2015, Mason joined Dancenorth’s ensemble under the new directorship of Kyle Page and Amber Haines.

Whilst at Dancenorth, Mason performed in a vast array of arts festivals across Australia and internationally. Works performed include A Pre-Emptive Requiem for Mother Nature by Alisdair Macindoe, If ____ was ____, a double bill by Ross McCormack and Stephanie Lake, The Three Dancers by Lee Serle, Attractor by Lucy Guerin and Gideon Obarzanek, Tectonic by Kyle Page, One Infinity by Gideon Obarzanek and Amber Haines, and Rainbow Vomit, Spectra, Dust and Noise by Kyle Page and Amber Haines. Mason also performed a solo choreographed by Kristina Chan for Communal Table, directed by Kyle Page and Amber Haines.

Mason has choreographed three short works, Together Indecison (with Georgia Rudd) in 2017, And here we are in 2019, and Micro deep in 2020, for Dancenorth’s annual choreographic season, Tomorrow Makers. He also performed in NOW this body WHAT by Luigi Vescio as part of Midsumma Festival.

In 2021, he joined the full-time Australian Dance Theatre ensemble, performing Supernature by Garry Stewart at the Adelaide Festival.
