Garry Stewart’s Proximity is a poetic study that investigates how we extend into the world and how the world extends into us. It is made all the more poetic by the beautiful imagery developed by video artist Thomas Pachoud. The word proximity means nearness, closeness, juxtaposition but not remoteness. Proximity derives meaning from examining seeing and gaze. How we perceive what we see, is a fundamental area of study for the work.
