PATRICK O’LUANAIGH

Patrick O’Luanaigh is a dance artist from Melbourne/Naarm. Graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor in Fine Arts (Dance) in 2022, he joined Australian Dance Theatre as a guest artist for The Hum, made in collaboration with the Australian Ballet. In July of 2023 Patrick became a Company Artist, and has since performed works by Brianna Kell and Zachary Lopez in Cultivate:One.

Patrick marks his time as a member of Yellow Wheel as having a significant impact on his development. From 2017-2021, Patrick performed works by Artistic Directors Adam Wheeler, Kyall Shanks and Joshua Lowe; and guest artists Israel Aloni, Lee Brummer, Alice Lee Holland and Phillip Adams, as well as in work by his fellow Yellow Wheelers.

At the VCA Patrick worked with Daniel Riley and Brianna Kell, Gregory Lorenzutti, Lucy Guerin and Julie Minaai. Patrick has worked professionally with Dasha Tolotchkov and Helen Herbertson (HHProjects).

In 2023 Patrick was commissioned and supported by Banyule Council to create Alight, a short dance duo for Banyule’s Mental Health Week Program. O’Luanaigh also choreographed and produced his solo work 3 Liminal Avenue (Mudfest, 2021) and Imbued for Deified (Melbourne Fringe Festival with Aimee Raitman, 2022).

Patrick is the recipient of the Next Platform Award (Mudfest) and Paul and Donna Dainty Award for Excellence (VCA).

In a felt state of apprenticeship, Pat finds himself awed and excited at the things he is yet to learn.
