Join our community at the heart of ADT to help shape the future of contemporary dance.

For over sixty years, ADT has pushed the boundaries of dance in Australia and beyond. As the elder of contemporary dance in this country, we’ve spent decades changing the game and fearlessly pushing the artform forward. With a company of seven full time dancers, we’re one of only a handful of companies in Australia that offers full time employment to artists.
This work is only made possible by the support from our generous community – we thank our donors for all gifts, large and small, over the lifetime of the company.

Your donation to ADT directly supports:

  • The creation of new work and the expansion of our performance ensemble
  • Elevating and centring First Nations voice and creative practices
  • Generous independent sector support and career development for artists
  • Our Learning Program, connecting young people from every corner of the community with our artists

Bequests

At the beginning of 2025, Professor Ruth Rentschler OAM MAICD made national headlines when she committed a $500,000 bequest to Australian Dance Theatre – the largest single gift in our history. Preserving Ruth’s legacy as a tireless advocate for the arts, the bequest is a remarkable commitment to the future of Australian Dance.

Acknowledgement of Country

Australian Dance Theatre acknowledges the traditional owners of Kaurna Yerta. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and community and we extend this respect to first peoples across the land. We pay our ongoing respects to them, their cultures and their elders, past and present. We acknowledge the ongoing significance of dance as cultural practice, as interconnected with story, song and country.
