What is a Company Artist?
A Company Artist is a full-time member of the ADT ensemble. As part of the role you will perform in our works, work in creative developments, and support our learning and community programs through the facilitation of workshops and masterclasses.
ADT embeds principles of care, psychological safety and collective creativity into our artistic processes. Company Artists are treated as creatives who work collaboratively to create choreography through tasking and research.
ADT has a full-time core ensemble of artists. We collaborate with a broad range of creatives across a range of disciplines in our work.
Where will this role be based?
This is a full-time role based on Kaurna Yerta. Successful artists will be invited to join our ensemble in Adelaide.
Who will be assessing applications?
Applications will be assessed by Artistic Director Daniel Riley and Associate Artistic Director Brianna Kell. Auditions will be led by Daniel and Brianna alongside Company Artist Zoe Wozniak.
What is the application process?
Once you’ve submitted your EOI, you will receive an automated confirmation from the application portal. Applications will then be assessed and shortlisted.
As part of your EOI you will need to supply:
- Personal details (name, contact information, pronouns)
- Access requirements (so we can ensure that we can meet your needs should you proceed to the in-person audition)
- A short bio about who you are, your experience and your practice
- A brief paragraph about why you want to join ADT
- A CV and headshot (consolidated into a single pdf, preferably)
- A link to a 1-2 minute showreel
All applicants will be notified by 17 July. Successful submission of an audition EOI does not guarantee that you will be selected to audition.
What will the audition be like?
We understand that the process of auditioning can be intimidating. We aim to create a welcoming environment for everyone at ADT. The audition will consist of a class to begin the day, followed by opportunities to learn ADT repertoire and complete some creative tasks.
Is my application confidential?
Yes. Your application and all personal data will only be accessed by Daniel Riley and Brianna Kell for the purpose of assessing your application.
Is an audition schedule available?
Successful applicants will receive a full audition schedule closer to the date of the audition. Auditions will run over two days. The first day will comprise of physical tasking, with the second day giving selected artists the opportunity to deepen their connection to the company.
If I receive an audition, what do I need to bring?
If successful, applicants will need to be prepped for a full day of dancing. Please bring comfortable clothes, water and snacks for the day. There is space in the application to advise us of any additional access needs you may have on the day.
Why have you added an Adelaide audition?
Being based on Kaurna Yerta, we are dedicated to supporting our local community of artists through targeted Secondments and Guest Artist placements. Due to changes in our national touring schedule, we're thrilled to be able to confirm an audition in our home state.
