RISE

A celebration of community grounded in the rhythms of Country

RISE sees the dancers of Australian Dance Theatre create a collective choreographic ceremony at the break of dawn.

As the first rays of sunlight paint the canvas of Country, dancers move through dappled landscapes to create a communal pause in a time typically reserved for speed.

Bodies merge with nature as they connect to the ground upon which they tread. Meditative, reflective and steeped in the knowledge of the Australian landscape, RISE is a celebration of the renewal found in the rhythms of the world around us.

Co-created by ADT’s Artistic Director Daniel Riley and Artistic Associate Brianna Kell, RISE offers a powerful invitation to slow down, to reconnect to something older and deeper than all of us at the gentle beginnings of a new day.

Buy Variations on Country

Variations on Country is a collection of instrumental works that sees composer James Howard continue his sonic explorations at the intersections of Country, culture, politics and identity.

Blending cutting-edge electronic practice with ancient knowledge, field recordings and a deep connection to place, the collection is at once breathlessly poignant and intricately complex.

Evoking the gentleness of first light and the rush of wind as it rolls over the hills, Variations on Country is Howard at his best: expansive, intimate and danceable all at once.

Tracks 2 - 7 form the composition for RISE. You can purchase the full soundscape directly from James via bandcamp.
